New Husky / Stock acct / Winter is almost over

Sun Mar 2, 2008, 7:17 AM
Ok, first, as you might have noticed, we have a new Husky, Kota. I'm sure he will start comprising about 80% of my stock/devs as he grows. I was in the bathroom this morning (where we keep him at night) watching him play with our Yellow Lab mix, Bailey...and thinking to myself "He's growing like a weed!" I remember the first day we brought him home, I took a pic of him standing under her belly...and now he's a good 1/3 her size already! At Walmart yesterday, someone had 2 dogs in the back of their truck, one was a Black Lab...but the other was a Husky, inside a cage. S/he was beautimous! I love how wolfy they look even w/o the typical wolf coloring. I'm hoping our lil Kota grows up to be that majestic looking.

I have always wanted some form of a wolf, as I have always had a deep affinity for them, not to mention they are my totem animal. According to the breeder, Kota should be 1/2 Sibe, 1/4 Mal, and 1/4 Wolf. Now, as cool as this may sound, I don't think the Wolf content is there, or it's very little. (A lot of people will throw "Wolf" in there to sell puppies.) The story has changed since first talking to her, which makes me doubt the figures. His momma is definitely full Sibe, as she was there when we picked him up...if he takes after her, I'll be happy. She was totally playful and full of energy. The dad, at first, (according to the sign they had out) was an "Arctic Wolf", which I can only assume they mean "Timber Wolf". When we showed up in person at their house, it changed to the dad being 1/2 Wolf and 1/2 Mal. I personally think he's a mix of Sibe and Mal, nix the Wolf...although looking at 2 of his brothers, they look like they were stolen from a Timber Wolf den with their coloring, so it's a hard call. I would have taken him even knowing there was no wolf in him, for a couple reasons...Huskies are beautiful in their own right, and Wolves are free spirits, not meant to be caged up all their life. At any rate, he's a beautiful animal.

(Is it just me, or is it hard to call a Husky a "dog"? Kinda like calling Godzilla a "lizard", no?)

OK, as far as our stock acct...we see the girls pretty far and few in between as they live a couple hours from us, but with Spring Break coming up, be looking for more stock pics!

And last but definitely not least...Winter is damn near over, and for once, I couldn't be happier! I LOVE winter...I grew up in WA state, amongst the snow laden pine trees and snowcapped mountains...nature at it's finest! However, my latest job I've had going on a year now...delivering shingles to rooftops...has been just short of DEAD all winter long, for obvious reasons. Money has been super tight, stress high, etc. I can only hope a lot of people decide to change their roof this spring, or I find a nice office job and have a year round deal going. Me and heights do NOT get along, and my main job there is a driver...but everyone usually trades out on roofs, especially on condos, (which I haven't had the "pleasure" of doing) because there's a lot of walking involved. They all know my fear, and keep me on the truck unless it's an easy roof, but I think that's wearing thin with them, and honestly, they need to get another driver who isn't afraid of heights. I can move on to an office job on a computer, since I'm on one 24/7 anyway lol

And with that, my first full, interesting (I hope!) journal update is now complete. Only been on here around 3 years or so...guess it's time for a real journal entry lol

BTW, I would download the Greasemonkey plug-in for Firefox, then search for the dev art skin "xlack" by xanasus...looks MUCH better than stock!
